Healing on the Streets
"Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick."
Luke 9:1-2
We began Healing on the Streets back in May 2006. Every Satursday afternoon, we set up chairs in the middle of Boscombe Precinct. We put up a large banner that says 'Healing', and we kneel down in the middle of the shopping centre and invite the Holy Spirit to come. Then, whether rain, hail or shine, for two hours, we hand out flyers to shoppers and passers-by telling them what we're doing, and we invite them to come and sit in our chairs and receive prayers. It's amazing. God always shows up!
Every week we hand out between 50 and 200 flyers and between 2 and 20 people come forward to receive prayer. It's been a truly humbling experience. Some people just come once. Others come back week after week to tell us how they're doing and to ask for more prayer.
John Wimber used to say, 'the meat is on the street'. It's been a great privilege to meet so many interesting people, each with a story to tell. And each time we get an opportunity to share a little of God's love and invite His Kingdom to come in their lives. We've seen lots of miracles.
