Bournemouth Vineyard - Looking out to the community

Food Bank

Most of us can go to our kitchen fridge and cupboards and find food to feed our families. But what if the cupboards are bare, the fridge is empty, and the children are sent to bed hungry?

Bournemouth Vineyard ChurchWhat if this is not happening in a third world country? What if this is happening to your neighbours, or to a child at your child's school, or to your co-worker? This is reality for more families than we realise in our communities.

We launched The Bournemouth Food Bank at the end of 2007 to ensure families do not go without food, and children do not go to bed or school unnecessarily hungry.

Through contact with health visitors, head teachers, doctor surgeries, church ministers and other community workers, those who are without food can receive a food voucher and exchange it for emergency food parcels from one of our distribution points around Bournemouth. Alongside the food, further help and advice is given to try and alleviate the reasons why the recipients have needed the services of the Food Bank.

We collect food from individuals, other local churches and at local supermarkets. If you would like to help for a couple of hours with our next supermarket collection, please contact Debbie Bramley, the Foodbank Manager. We also welcome volunteers to help with food sorting and hospitality at our distribution points.

You can also make financial donations to the Bournemouth Food Bank by clicking here. If you would like to donate food personally, please bring it to one of our Sunday Church services or to the Foodbank Centre, Suite 5 Wessex House, St Leonard's Road, Charminster, Bournemouth (between 10.30am and 1pm - by prior arrangment).
