Belong
If you've decided that Bournemouth Vineyard is the right place for you and you want to make us your home, then the best way to feel at home is to get stuck right in and get involved. You can do that at whatever pace you feel comfortable with. Some like to watch on the sidelines for a while, and that's fine; other's take the plunge much quicker, and that's fine too.
At Bournemouth Vineyard, we don't maintain an official membership. Here, membership is involvement! John Wimber, the founder of the Vineyard Movement used to say, 'there's no unemployment in the Kingdom of God!'
And so if you wish to become a member there are a few things we ask you to do: -
- Firstly, attend Sunday services. We have a morning and evening services, with a full youth and children's programme every week in the morning. This is the best way to get to know other people, and to get known!
- Secondly, join a small group. This is vital to your own personal spiritual growth. It's also the primary place to receive pastoral care and support.
- Thirdly, find somewhere to serve. God's given us a big vision. It takes lots of people to make Sunday services happen and to sustain all the compassion and mercy ministries that we run. There's something for everyone - all you need is a smile and a desire to make a real difference.
- Fourthly, give a portion of your income regularly. Giving is not only Biblical, but it vital to the ongoing work of the Church. Giving is an act of worship and sacrifice and is how real joy is found.
- Finally, if you are coming to the Vineyard from another local church (as opposed to being between churches or previouly unchurched), it is likely that you will be noticed if you left! It's really important to us that you go to your leader there and ask them to release you with their blessing before joining the Vineyard.
